Business Background
Styled by Pretty (SBP) is a styling and fashion consultation firm that focuses on helping clientele achieve the personal style they desire. Styled by Pretty is one of the top up and coming styling firms in Rochester, NY. The company was founded by stylist and chief creative director Lexus “Pretty” Banks in early 2014, but the company took off in 2016.
Founder Background
Lexus is a 23-year-old Rochester, NY native. She studied fashion for five years before deciding to begin freelance styling. Styled by Pretty’s work was recently officially launched through a marketing campaign, and has been featured in music videos, print and online in domestic and international arenas. Styled By Pretty contracted with local models that are exclusively featured in the 2016 & 2017 campaigns. Services are offered to male and female clients and include but are not limited to image and style consultation, personal shopping, and private client stylist on call. Though we are a new company, we at Styled by Pretty are not new to fashion; our company is here to set a new standard with a different approach for enhancing personal style. It’s styling from the heart.
What inspires Ms.Banks?
My personal style is inspired by runway shows from current and future seasons, celebrity looks, music and especially the current trends but I am also a natural FIRST. I’m a fashion stylist so my appearance means everything to me. I must look the part if I want my clients to take me seriously. I wouldn’t go to a make-up artist if I felt he/she didn’t look the part.
Describing her style
I would describe my style as being edgy and unique. Every day I become inspired by celebrity looks; art and high fashion magazine shoots. Fashion is me and I am it. I think, eat, sleep and breathe fashion. I don’t speak much so when I walk in the room; I want my appearance to be loud and bold. I have an impeccable eye for fashion. I am very trendy and love to try new things when it comes down to my overall look including my nails and hair.
OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT PRETTY BANKS
I absolutely love to thrift. I see nothing wrong with wearing hand me downs. I dress for myself, not to impress anyone but for my own comfort and style. Of course, I love high fashion brands. One of my favorite quotes is “Fashion is what you buy, Style is what you do with it”. Meaning If you are a true fashionista you can make $50 look like a million bucks.
What is your future Goals?
As an individual who is constantly evolving and whatever I do will involve fashion. So my future goals would be opening up a boutique in New York City one of the fashion capitals of the world and I would love to become a fashion buyer for a big department store such as Nordstrom's, Barney's etc and become a costume designer for film.
